[Some] Christmas Shopping
November 19, 2010Today we signed our lease! 19 really is our lucky day. :)
I also bought some Christmas presents today, including one I have been looking for for weeks and finally found in the most random place. ;)
This is our tree with all the presents last year. I can't wait to put it up in our new apartment!! (And maybe next year we can get a grown-up tree...)

All I want for Christmas is this cardigan!
After our steak dinner, everyone was discussing the Hogs game...and I suddenly realized why all of these cardigans at the Promenade Target sold out in four days. : /
BUT they are on sale this week for $15, so maybe that means they have restocked?! *fingers crossed* Hello, Christmas wish list!

Pinnacle Hills Promenade
November 5, 2010Zach and I went on our first date as a NWA couple to the Promenade! It was chilly, but I was so glad to get bundled up, and I am so thankful I keep my gloves in my pocket year-round.
We grabbed a bite at the Food Pavilion, got a free pretzel at Auntie Anne's, looked in the windows of all the places I plan to shop, and went into Borders. AND Zach got me a mini American Girl doll with his 40% off coupon. :) We ended our night at...where else? TARGET! I'm already planning what we need for Christmas...
It's such a festive place. I was disappointed we got there so late because things were closing up.
It's a good thing we're living here now!

Makeovers
October 22, 2010
But we could agree with the consultant on how pretty their MK tree was! (She said her husband does the decorations...)Afterward, we had a late (late) lunch at Carino's, visited my mama (as much as we could on a Friday night), and dropped in at JCP and Gordman's. I scored some free mascara and Juicy Couture fragrance!
We had a lot of fun. I love you, sister!

Lunching Ladies
October 8, 2010I got to have lunch with this pretty lady! She also recently celebrated her first anniversary with Andrew. :)
We had lunch at Taco Bueno with one of the cutest little boys in the world who got some Silly Putty in his kid's meal. That is a way better toy than some of the ones we got when we were wee things. Oh, the pico was so good!
Afterward, I picked up a Christmas present for Zach from Williams Sonoma. It's not the first present I've bought this year, but it's the first one for him. I think he'll love it...
It was a lovely afternoon. :) I totally should have taken a picture of the frame I gave you, Brandi, a million years ago. I had totally forgotten about the picture, but not the frame!

I'm a sexy knitter
So...it's not much (yet?), but look what I'm knitting!
It's a funky (i.e. not perfect) skinny color-block scarf in navy blue, grey, and teal. I bought this knitting kit (and this yarn) in December 2008 with great plans to learn to knit over Christmas Break. *haha*
I've tried several times (including during this summer whilst being unemployed and out of school) to pick it back up and try with all my might to get past purling. I. just. can't.
(Hopefully Judy Tucker or someone else or videos on the Internet can help my poor, pitiful, non-purling soul.)
I have to feel like I am learning something, so I just decided to jump in feet first and knit SOMETHING other than a random practice piece. I can do an okay knit-stitch, so I just started making a neat little square. (You can see my grey square is somewhat better than the navy one because practice makes [more] perfect.)
I knitted a navy square, but I didn't start the next color correctly and had to unravel it all. I finally got the navy and grey done, but the fuzzy teal (to give it some texture) did not cooperate very well, and, when I was almost done with that square, I had to unravel it. BUT I am starting to have something to show for my hard work. :)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
I love so much about this movie: the snow falling in the Great Hall at Christmas, little frantic Doby, Hermione turning into a cat, Moaning Myrtle, Filch freaking out about Mrs. Norris, a young Hagrid looking like he should be in The Cure (according to my husband), a nice Percy, the flying car, Ron's broken wand backfiring, Gilderoy Lockhart, Ron's cowardly heart (although I can't blame him for hating spiders), Ginny's squeal upon seeing Harry at the breakfast table. :)
I could go on and on and on...
I do not like the skittering of the spiders over the forest floor. *ick*
I stand by my opinion that it's a book (at least partially) examining race: mudbloods, purebloods, muggles, squibs, half-giants, centaurs, etc.

German Red Cabbage
May 29, 2010
We went to the Brau Haus tonight.
Bobby got red cabbage with his sauerbraten (roast beef), and I tried it because I couldn't remember if I had before. I was SURE I had, even though I tend to HATE red cabbage and have only started liking sauerkraut again recently, so I thought maybe I had avoided it after all.
I had.
You know what is in German red cabbage?
Cloves.
Zach had said it tasted like Christmas. (He also says that about gin and cranberry juice, but that is more like watered-down summer slush. ;)~
But German red cabbage does!
Weird.
My tongue went all numb like it did when Ashley Shackelford bought those clove candies on the Jonathan Swift ferry to England and I took A LOT.
Cloves do that, even in German red cabbage.
AND I didn't dislike it. :)
