What we did on Black Friday

November 26, 2010

Happy Black Friday!

We did not indulge in the commercial hoopla of Christmas...instead we partook in birthday celebration!

Jake is always excited when his mama gets presents...even if it's a week late! :)

Special Occasions

October 4, 2010
Happy birthday, Tasha!
Happy birth of your marriage (a.k.a. your anniversary), Mechelle and Rob!
Happy un-birthday, Aunt Tay! (Hey, it's mine, too. ;)

So...I totally sent you something in honor of your special occasions in such a hurry on Saturday that they were returned to me today. I forgot to put stamps on the envelopes. *lol*
Otherwise, they would have been on time, but now look for them two days late. ;)

I love you ladies and miss you!

[This picture was taken on our Carnival cruise in the summer of 2007 before Briley was born and when we were just learning who "Rob with a heart" was. *tehe*]

Mama's Birthday Cocoa-Nut Cake

September 30, 2010

After renewing my car tags, my mama and I headed back to Hot Springs for her belated birthday dinner. We had a wonderful time visiting and eating and sitting on the porch. Of course, I baked her a birthday cake. :)
It was a Cocoa-Nut cake (Devil's Food chocolate cake stuffed with coconut and chopped nuts) with cream cheese icing, mums in fall colors of burgundy, orange & goldenrod, and chocolate "dirt" crumbs. It was heavenly! Zach said he thinks it is the prettiest cake I have made so far, and my mama absolutely loved it.

Before dinner, my mama opened her present:

Here we are posing (in my new shirts from Erin and in her birthday sapphire scarf and pin from us) with the cake. Happy birthday, Mama! We loved seeing you!!

I cooked rice, corn & black bean burritos and stuffed tomatoes. The burrito recipe is a definite keeper, especially at 94 cents a serving!

I also added Hobie's name later because September 30 is the anniversary of when Erin and Zach found our fat boy. He's FIVE! :)

We waited for Erin and Josh to get off work and come home before we cut the cake. That's why Mama is in her pajamas. :)

Justify FullFriday we visited with Momo and took Mama downtown to walk along Bathhouse Row and see West Mountain. On our way, we saw this locksmith. It's awfully nice of them to open your car for free when your kid is locked in!

"Happy birthday, Bobby" cake

September 18-19, 2010

I made my favorite father-in-law a birthday cake yesterday, which we surprised him with today after a birthday lunch at Cajun Boilers. If he happened to see it, we were going to say it was an anniversary cake for us, and I waited to ice "Happy Birthday" on it this morning after he went to church. I accidentally gave him my phone to look at some pictures after I had taken pictures of the finished cake! Oh no! But I said I needed it back because it had a picture Zach didn't need to see. *lol* "Anniversary" makes a great cover, even though he said he knew something was up. ; )

It was a really yummy cake, and I just love the icing tricks I've learned! Keeping the spatula moist definitely helps to get a smooth surface.

Happy (late) birthday, Bobby! We love you!!

Happy birthday, Aunt Jeannie!

September 14, 2010

Last night Aunt Jeannie stayed with us because she is working at Lake Hamilton today, and we celebrated her birthday with French vanilla cake topped by my now "[facebook] world famous" poached fruit. It was yummy. :) Happy birthday!

We also learned that Trenton Lee Stewart, author of The Mysterious Benedict Society, attended high school at Lake Hamilton, as did a Playboy Centerfold. We couldn't believe they put THAT on their website.

~*~birthday pie~*~

August 24, 2010

Tonight we had my birthday pie (chocolate chess). I had to wait for it because my birthday fell during thesising, graduating, and moving, then I didn't know what kind of pie I wanted, and finally I hate to wait until everyone else's birthdays had passed so the house was empty of dessert. It was worth the wait. :) It was yummy! Beverly did a great job.
I've never known someone to have a birthday go over three months. ;)

Can you see the 25 spelled out?

A Walk Down Memory Lane: First Pharr Family Christmas

August 7, 2010

Today, while working on Momo's birthday present, I got to look at lots of pictures of Zach and his family in the years before *we* existed.

I also got to see some of the pictures of times we have shared, including my first and only Christmas with the Pharr side--I never get tired of saying that!--of the family. (It is the only one I've had so far as we were honeymooning during the past one.)

What is this you ask?
We tried to pop a kernel of popcorn with cell phones.
That's how I knew this family was a keeper, corny as that may be!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Briley!!!

August 1, 2010

Happy third birthday to my "best" niece, Briley Renee!

This picture was taken right after she "opened" her Princess Jeep, and you can just see the joy on her face and her free spirit shining through. She has become such a talker and is so smart and funny. :)

Boogie, it was such an honor to be there on the day of your birth and each birthday since, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for your fourth year. But you're growing up too fast! (Soon enough she really will be driving... ;)

Here are some pictures from the past four years:
