Wedding Soiree for our Married Soiree Friends

September 5, 2010

"'There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well...'"
--Pride and Prejudice

Yesterday we celebrated Brian and Whitney's nuptials at a belated reception in Little Rock. It was so nice to see them and several others, including some English folks, Saucer folks, and Dr. Rogers (!). Everything was delicious, especially these little sweets. :)

We really miss our soiree friends, who now live in the far, far land of Knoxville. :(
[I just had to include this quote from P&P for them!]

Trivia Night at da Saucy!

We joined Monica, Whitney, Brian, and the rest of the gang for fire sales and cheese fries.

I know working in restaurants is hard, stressful work and that everyone has bad days, but that still doesn't give a beer goddess the right to ignore her customers, be rude, and/or act as if doing her job is imposing on her time to visit with her friends who also happen to be her customers. You treat your customers equally, so if we are being treated like crap, you better be treating that other table badly, too! I know we had a big group, but we were not demanding or giving her a hard time...and she just threw away a ton of tips.

Sorry to rant but I don't like when anyone fails to do his or her job.

Despite our server's antics AND losing at trivia, we still had a wonderful reunion. We topped off our night on Jeff's rooftop overlooking downtown and the Rivermarket.

WOW-what a view!!

Margarita Mamas

June 10, 2010After spending the afternoon in Carlisle, we headed to LR to meet up with two of my best friends from high school, Tasha and Yousra while Zach met up with Dan at the Saucer. (That would get him in trouble later.)

When Tasha was pregnant with Briley, she craved margaritas, and, while the rest of us enjoyed free margaritas in Jamaica and Grand Cayman, she was left out because they were premixed. :( So I promised her that I would buy her a margarita when she finally had Briley.

Here we are one Drake and almost three years later, and we finally had that margarita night at On the Border. Since I broke up with Jose Cuervo a long, long, LONG time ago, I settled on a mojito. Of course, I didn't realize that it was a Mexican mojito--that is, it had tequila, instead of rum. No me gusta. :(

So I handed that over to Tashie and enjoyed a Dos Equis Amber instead. :) We enjoyed catching up and girl talk and some Mexican food!

Then we decided to head over to Khalil's because Yousra is the daddy's daughter. *hahaha* Khalil's is FANTASTIC! It is very chill with nice lighting and furniture, lots of beer (over 80 different bottled beers, I believe) and yummy food. After Dan left, I went and picked up Zach so he could see for himself.

I can't wait to go back. (And you should go, too! :)

Thank you, ladies for a lovely night! We should definitely do it more often. :) Twink, we are going to the Saucer for some cheese fries! And Tashie, we love our gifts! Love y'all!

Here are some pictures of our night:

My Twink and My Tashie

Yousra had wanted to do a serious photo the picture before. Lord, I hope this is not the face I gave my professors... And I guess Tasha had a boogie?

This basically summarizes our friendship.

When we finally decided we were done taking silly photos, Tasha declared that she was glad because she was sitting on the bar and it hurt her bum!
Zach got in trouble with our crazy waitress Diane for having been at the Saucer instead. When he asked for water, she brought him this paper cup!
Sometimes my shutter doesn't open, but the pictures still turn out a-okay.

Tasha decided to try on the costumes from Khalil's float in the St. Patrick's Day parade. Thankfully we got her to stop after one, or we would have been there until four in the morning!

The Jones-Francis Nuptials

May 21, 2010
the couple at our reception right after they got engaged :)

I couldn't pass up commemorating the Jones-Francis nuptials with a couple of photos. Friday night we sent them off in style at The Saucer.

It truly was the highlight of our week. :)

Zach took this photo of me with the now newly-married couple on our Spring Break trip to Memphis in 2009. Such a crazy trip--we couldn't communicate with anyone. This is at Silky's, not The Saucer, where we celebrated last night, but it will do.

(Like Friday night, sometimes I'm not in the mood to take photos...)

You guys have been great friends to us, and, if it had not been for the two of you meeting, Zach and I may have never met either. You definitely are a match made in England (which, we might as well face it, is HEAVEN on Earth). :) We are just tickled pink that you two are now married!!

(We can't wait to see you again. We will miss you guys so much, but we promise to come conquer another town's Saucer near you!!!)

Zach's really going to miss doing this!

A Rivermarket Saturday

April 10, 2010

We spent the day at the Rivermarket with Zach's parents. Even though Zach and I were both struggling with our sinuses, it was a lot of fun:
We had lunch at Flying Fish and wandered down the street. [The Arkansas Literary Festival was going on this week, so I saw some people from UCA.]We checked out the park. It has awesome playground design, but we got nervous watching those kids climb all over it! *lol*We ended with drinks at the Saucer.
Our waitress must have lost one of my beer slips, or they neglected to scan one because my record only shows 49! So I had a fire sale Rolling Rock. It better reflect that now, or grrr...We found Zach some dress shoes for his interview. By this point, I was worn out, especially after my earrings kept getting caught in my scarf. So we decided to head home after stopping by to see my mama...where I finally got some new sunglasses there! [Mine were somehow destroyed in my purse.] I never buy expensive ones because I know that as soon as I do, they will be ruined while my cheap Walmart one's last and last. Zach says I look like a bug again. ; ) After dropping into K-mart and Whole Foods, we came home and sat on the couch all night. : )
